Virtunet has adopted a privacy of information policy consistent with Australian Privacy Legislation and the ten National Principles for the Fair Handling of Personal Information.
The major points of the policy are concerned with how personal information is collected, used, kept and disclosed and the right that individuals have to access the information that Virtunet holds on them.

The following privacy statement applies to all business conducted by Virtunet within the IT industry, be it through any of its offices or over any of its websites. This statement covers all personal information collected by Virtunet during the conduct of any of its authorised Sales, Services, Human Resources or Recruitment procedures.

Virtunet endeavours to protect all collected personal information from unauthorised use or disclosure. Any queries relating to personal information held by Virtunet should be directed to the company's privacy officer at its head office in Sydney.

Collection of information

Virtunet will collect personal information in the process of conducting business. That personal information may be obtained directly from you, via another contact in your organisation or through a third party who we believe has informed you that your details may be provided to us. Virtunet will only store your personal details if they are relevant to your organisation conducting business with us. Virtunet do not normally obtain or store information that is deemed by the Privacy Act to be "Sensitive Information".

Virtunet store personal information to ensure that we can maintain contact with the organisations with which we do business. This contact may be verbal, electronic or written. The reason for the contact may be to inform, request assistance or to maintain a relationship.
The information collected will only be that which is necessary for the conduct of our business and our relationship with your organisation.

Information gathered by Virtunet in one instance may be used in another instance unless you expressly requested that we do not. However, Virtunet will only use the information which we receive about you for the purpose of doing business with your organisation or in connection with that purpose.
Where practical, Virtunet will only collect information directly from you. If we collect it from another source, we will do what is reasonably possible to inform you that we have collected the information.

Use and Disclosure

As a provider of a range of information technology products, services and resource solutions, Virtunet's primary purpose for collecting personal information is to facilitate the efficient provision of quality information technology products and services to its business associates.
Apart from the completion of the original business dealing this may involve the provision of relevant product and industry updates and other market related information and opportunities to Virtunet's business associates. Access

An individual about whom we hold personal information may request access to the personal information held about them. Such requests must be made in writing to us. We may charge a reasonable fee for responding to an access request.
If an individual wishes to change inaccurate information, then we will make the requested change unless it is believed, on reasonable grounds, that the information held by us is not inaccurate in which case the correction request will be noted in the place where the personal information about that individual is held.

Data Quality

Virtunet continuously monitors the accuracy of personal information on collection from and provision by the individual and through the day-to-day processes of its business. Should any updates to your personal information be required please contact and inform Virtunet.

Data Security

Your information is held either in paper-based records or in electronic form in our databases. As an information technology company, Virtunet employs state of the art security systems and procedures to ensure the integrity and security of personal information held by the company.
Despite the high level of information security employed within Virtunet and its commitment to your privacy, the company is unable to provide an absolute assurance that personal information will remain secure at all times. Virtunet therefore does not accept any responsibility for incidences of unauthorised access to personal information, which is provided at your own risk. Likewise Virtunet does not guarantee the security or privacy compliance of any websites that are accessible through links provided on any of its websites.

Virtunet will delete from its systems any of your personal information held by the company on your request provided that sufficient proof of identity is established.

Anonymity

Virtunet's personnel will respect a request for anonymity unless and until relevant business negotiations are entered into. None of Virtunet's business processes can be completed effectively with either party remaining anonymous.

Sensitive Information

Virtunet does not require that you supply any sensitive information to the company unless it is essential for the purpose of the conduct of business. This type of information will not be collected without your consent.
